Kelton Design uses the principles of Visitor Studies to evaluate a museum's audience before design begins. As an example, we prototyped an idea of turning Vulcan Park & Museum’s courtyard into an interactive playspace by setting out toy trains. With what we observed, Kelton Design fabricated buildings and factories to simulate the growth of Birmingham. We have found that letting a group of people not associated with the project evaluate your label copy and interactives will go a long way towards delivering a successful exhibit. It is easier and cheaper to work out problems with an interactive at this stage than it is during the fabrication and installation phase.
